BIOGRAPHY:
Caitlin was born to a middle class family in Phoenix, Arizona on February 16, 1967. She grew up the only child of parents who were strict, inflexible and self-centered. As a result, she found herself constantly trying to succeed, in hopes of gaining their love and approval.
A loner by nature, Caitlin blossomed in high school when she began working for the school newspaper. Finally finding something that she could throw her passions into, she soon began wearing the hat of both reporter and school editor.
In her junior year of high school, she began dating Robert, a college student from the nearby university. She soon lost her heart to him, thinking that she had found the love that she had always hungered for. Six months later, Caitlin found herself pregnant. She could envision a happy life with Robert and her baby, free at last from her parents' influence. Unfortunately, Robert didn't share her vision, and left town, with no good-bye, and no forwarding address.
Left with no other choice, she told her parents of the unborn child. Despite her pleas, they refused to allow her to keep the baby. Caitlin was told that she could carry her child, but she must give it up for adoption at birth. The shame of a teenage pregnancy, having the man that she loved abandon her, and the experience of having the child she bore torn away from her, all took their toll. Caitlin withdrew within herself, creating a barrier that no one could break through. On the outside, she became a tough and driven professional, but underneath lay a vulnerable, lonely woman.
Her reputation in college journalism helped Caitlin win a coveted position as a reporter for the San Francisco Times in 1990. She soon established herself as an intelligent, precise, and nearly fanatical investigative reporter. Throwing all of her energies into her work, she was able to mask the old wounds, and bury her pain.
In 1996, Caitlin began her investigation into Julian Luna, a man that was a complete mystery to her, and one that she wanted to know a great deal more about. After hearing of her investigation, Julian asked to meet with her, and as a result became intrigued with the reporter. They began dating, but Caitlin, unable to let down her walls, refused to become his lover. After being placed under a Nosferatu spell, Caitlin let her defenses down, and Julian was able to break through the barriers that she had constructed. They are now considered a regular item, much to the aversion of the Kindred population.
Kindred fears were realized, and the Masquerade nearly broken, when Caitlin witnessed a Brujah attack on Julian in Manzanita. Dying from wounds that he had received, Julian told Caitlin the story of his life, and the Kindred. Afterwards Caitlin willingly gave him her blood to save his life. In return, Julian suppressed Caitlin's memory of the weekend, for her own protection.
Her reporter's instincts tell her that certain parts of Julian's past aren't adding up, but for now, she is willing to turn a blind eye. The conscious Caitlin has no idea what Julian -really- is, but in actuality, the truth is buried just beneath the surface...
