BIOGRAPHY:
Some may say that this is my story (although the truth may be as dead as those who once knew it):

Daedalus was a skilled craftsman who fled from Athens, Greece, to the island of Crete in c. 470 B.C. upon killing his nephew, who had threatened to surpass him in not only architecture and engineering, but also in painting and sculpture. Welcomed as an artisan on Crete, Daedalus designed and supervised the building of the Palace of King Minos and fashioned the legendary labyrinth in which lived the hideous half-man/half-bull known as the Minotaur.

Some time later, Minos' daughter, Ariadne, fell in love with the great hero Theseus; one of the legendary Argonauts. Theseus had come to Crete to halt the sacrifices by Minos of seven maidens and seven youths to the Minotaur. Unlike his predecessors, however, Theseus succeeded in his task; using a thread given to him by Ariadne and the secret labyrinth route from Daedalus, which kept him from losing his way. Thus, Theseus slew the Minotaur and he and Ariadne escaped the island.

King Minos was infuriated and locked Daedalus and his son, Icarus, in a room atop the tallest tower in Crete as punishment. Using beeswax and the feathers left from various transitory birds, Daedalus and his son fashioned wings with which they planned to fly to freedom. Before they left, Daedalus advised his son not to fly too close to the sun, lest the wax melt and the wings be destroyed. Tragically, Icarus, enthralled by the power of flight, flew ever higher and consequently fell into the sea, where he drowned.

Daedalus held his course and arrived in Sicily, where he grieved the loss of his son; becoming nearly suicidal. One night, as a drunk and depressed Daedalus walked along a bridge, he decided to take his life in the river; a befitting way to join his son. Before thought became action, he was startled by a voice from beneath the bridge. Following the voice into the shadows, he met Vrukalakos, a Greek Nosferatu vampire of venerable age. Believing the creature to be a messenger from Hades, the god of the Underworld, he obeyed the vampire's wish that he not kill himself and squander the gift of existence as had Icarus. Vrukalakos then Embraced Daedalus and began to teach him the ways of the night.

As Daedalus began to accept the concept of unlife, his interests in the arts and his creativity returned. He also began to seek out the wonders and mysteries of the world, and their answers, for he now had so much time ahead of him to do so. He learned all the popular scholarly languages in order to decipher the scrolls and books of past and present knowledge and thus further his understanding of both Kindred and Kine.

Possessed of vast knowledge and many secrets, Daedalus continues to observe and learn. He serves Clan Nosferatu, and the Prince to the extent he deems it wise. But his chosen mission is to prevent Evil from costing others what was once taken from him.

And in the stillness, he dreams of flying into the face of the sun....
