Soraya Bastian was born in Istanbul in 1659, the last child and only female descendant of the sultan. She is the direct descendant of Jeremy, an enigmatic elder Ventrue.
On her wedding day, she was embraced by force into the Clan Tzimisce as revenge against Jeremy. Her sire unable or unwilling to care for her, Jeremy took responsibility for her and raised her under his roof in Europe, where she has remained since her embrace.
She acts as Jeremy's emissary, and her position is to link him to the outside world of the Kindred.
She met Julian Luna during a working trip to San Francisco in 1983, and lived with him for five years as his companion. She left him the night before he became Prince, and has not spoken to him since.
She returns to San Francisco just in time for the Grand Conclave.
