Stefan Wilts was born in Syracuse, New York to upper-class parents. His father was in the textile industry, his mother a socialite. From an early age, it was evident that he would enjoy success as a writer. He won several awards through high school, where he was the editor of the newspaper. His excellence led to a scholarship for Journalism at Yale, which he turned down in favor of a journalism program at Florida A&M, much to his parents' chagrin.
Stefan has a strong disdain for the upper class attitudes of his parents. He prefers to do stories that focus on the homeless, the poor, the downtrodden. He has been accused of "slumming for stories" but they are very true to his personal beliefs. As a freelance journalist, he's had a great deal of opportunities to pursue investigative journalism. He is quite successful, but he believes in no extragavance other than clothes. His apartment in Tallahassee is a simple one-bedroom with no fancy amenities....and he prefers it that way.
With his strong good looks, Stefan could have his choice of women, but much prefers the company of men. He's been bisexual, and it just doesn't thrill him. He has met many guys through his work in the field, as well as his various stints at acting. Currently, he is single and looking. His parents were pretty disappointed by this as well, and threatened to cut him off. Worried about how that would look to their socialite friends, they chose to ignore him but send him money.
Stefan is examining the idea of writing a book on the plight of homeless teenagers. After a lot of research, he has chosen to come to San Francisco to do more interviews and investigations. The New York Times is interested in using his experiences for a five-part series, and his parents are footing the bill for him to stay in San Francisco, particularly if it will make him a household name.
As for Stefan, he just wants to do his writing, turn out a quality book and hopefully find the man of his dreams.
